Job Title:                    Coordinating Officer (Full time – 40hrs per week)

Job Duration:            6 months (renewable)

Reports to:                 Managing Committee of YQA

Starting Date:            1st August 2016

Job Purpose:

Young Queer Alliance (YQA) a non-profit NGO for youth empowerment based on sexual orientation and gender identity is looking for a motivated, passionate and dynamic person for coordinating its activities. The Coordinating Officer will manage YQA’s peer educator and outreach worker network and will be required to develop and implement YQA Global Fund programmes.

Responsibilities:
  1. Program coordination, planning, management, monitoring and evaluation of the project funded by GF.
  2. Responsible for the programmatic and financial reporting of activities linked to Global Fund.
  3. Oversee and coordinate programmatic and financial management of the programme funded by the Global Fund at YQA.
  4. Develop and implement prevention and sensitization strategies for HIV & AIDS targeted to LGBTQIA youth.
  5. Collaborate with external local stakeholders including but not limited to other NGOs, the Ministry of Health and other Ministries, and other country projects in the field of HIV & AIDS.
  6. Organise meetings with the community to receive feedback on implemented programmes related to Global Fund.
  7. Conduct field visits to assess quality of work of peer educators and outreach workers.
  8. Planning of peer educators and peer outreach work (including updating calendar of activities, data reporting, etc.)
  9. Participate as a full member in project teams and in the HIV-cell at YQA.
  10. Help in project-write up for fundraising.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  1. Holder of Bachelor in Social Sciences in sociology, gender studies, social work or any other related field.
  2. Outgoing, flexible, and a quick learner. Passionate about human rights and justice.
  3. Willing to learn of rights and social justice pertaining to Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Gender Expression and HIV & AIDS.
  4. Experience in dealing with youth, project coordination and has a networking among LGBTIQA youth.
  5. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in French and English. Excellent verbal communication in Creole.
  6. Excellent strategy/planning skills.
  7. High level of personal initiative and resourcefulness.
