The Young Queer Alliance is implementing the Project “Empowering LGBTQ youth through rights awareness, social support and HIV screening at the Young Queer Alliance for their physical and mental well-being and to reduce HIV incidence”, which is funded by the National Social Inclusion Foundation.

The YQA is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates who wish to be considered as HIV tester for the organisation on a freelance basis starting February 2022 up to January 2023.

A. Candidates should possess relevant technical accreditation/certification as HIV tester or be a healthcare worker.

B. Candidates should also possess good communication and interpersonal skills; be fluent in English, French and Creole; and have a strong interest in LGBTQIA+ issues, gender, human rights, HIV and AIDS and social justice.

The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (wherever applicable) from the relevant authorities rests on the candidates.

DUTIES

The incumbent will, inter-alia, be required to contribute to the organisation by:

  • conducting HIV and STIs testing at the YQA and on field for LGBTQ persons;
  • distributing condoms and condom compatible lubricants to beneficiaries;
  • working with the Project Officer to ensure timely reach of targets; and
  • acting as facilitator/trainer from time to time to share information with beneficiaries on a number of LGBTQ related issues.

The freelance HIV tester would be paid MUR 7,000 per month and would need to reach 200 LGBTQ beneficiaries by the end of the Project.
