Our Mission and Vision

Founded by passionate queer youths,the YQA is dedicated to advancing equal human rights of LGBTQIA+ people in Mauritius by instilling a culture of volunteering and activism. The YQA seeks to empower LGBTQIA+ people to promote equality and be leaders of change.

The Young Queer Alliance envisions an inclusive and accepting society where being human is the sole prerequisite to having equal human rights and where LGBTQIA+ people are safe and free.

We believe in the power of art and media to drive social change. Our initiatives focus on raising awareness, educating the public, bringing about policy changes and supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals in their personal journeys. Join us as we work towards a more inclusive and vibrant society.

Opportunities for Freelance Creatives

Content creators

Collaborate on campaigns that highlight LGBTQIA+ stories and experiences. Your contents will help shape our visual identity, ensure diverse community representation and communicate our message effectively to foster community support through digital media, art, and storytelling. 

Graphic Designers

Create visual concepts, posters, posts, to communicate ideas, message and evidence that inspire, inform, or captivate audiences, to induce behaviour change within the community.

Video Editors

Engage in creating compelling video content that resonates with our audience. From documentaries to promotional videos, your work will inspire and inform.

Writers

Capture meaningful narratives and cover community activities through articles, i-stories and reviews to inspire and inform audiences.
