Communiqué Pride 2018: End the Homophobia and Islamophobia
Blasphemy, inciting towards racial hatred – especially Islamophobia, violation of the citizenship rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) Mauritians, homophobia, sharing hate instead of love, over the past days we have witnessed our flaws as humans in not being able to understand and accept another fellow human and their diverse queer and religious identities; despite we asking for the acceptance of our LGBTQ communities in Rainbow Mauritius.
International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia 2018
No battle can be won in isolation. As we commemorate the International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia on this 17th May 2018, we all need to keep strengthening alliances, especially when we need to ensure safety, fight violence, lobby for legal change, and/or campaign to change hearts and minds.

My experience as a Human Right Defender at the United Nation Human Rights Committee
“All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” (Article 1 – The Universal Declaration of Human Rights) a magnificent quote that can be understood as a justification for the existence of human rights by the fact that individuals are entitled to freedom and equality in dignity and rights. Yet, this testament of 1948 does not in itself prevent any form of deprivation human rights, violations of which have been lingering often too much for decades now!
Human Rights Day: #StandUp4HumanRights
The world celebrates the Human Rights Day in commemoration and remembrance of the vibrant understanding on what human rights should be as enshrined by The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) on the 10th December 1948. Today also kick-starts a yearlong campaign on the importance of Human Rights marking the 70th Anniversary of the UDHR that will be celebrated on the 10th December 2018.
The United Nations Human Rights Committee: Concluding observations on the fifth periodic report of Mauritius
The Young Queer Alliance, with the support of ILGA attended the 121st session review of the Human Rights Committee for Mauritius and made a case for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) people in Mauritius. The United Nations Human Rights Committee issued strong and positive recommendations for LGBT Mauritians.
Report Release: Defending the UN Independent Expert on Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity
Today the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) will hear a report from the United Nations Independent Expert Professor Vitit Muntarbhorn on the protection against violence and discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity (IE SOGI) for the first time.
Survey: Capacity Assessment of Youth-Led organizations in the HIV/SRHR response
The PACT, a global coalition of youth-led and youth serving organizations and networks working on HIV and sexual and reproductive health and rights, recently launched #uproot in May 2017. #Uproot is carrying out a capacity assessment survey to better understand the needs and strengths of youth networks related to youth organizing, and provide recommendations on the way forward
